25. Shetland Islands
This is one of our favorite series on Britbox, which is also available on some other streaming services.Shetlandis a British crime television series produced by ITV Studios for the BBC and broadcast on BBC One, which first aired on 10 March 2013. Originally based on the novels by Ann Cleeves, the series has been brought to the big screen by David Kane, who remains head writer for all five series.
The series stars Douglas Henshall as Jimmy Perez, a detective inspector working for Shetland Police, Alison O'Donnell as Detective Sergeant Alison "Tosh" Macintosh and Steven Robertson as Police Detective Sandy Wilson. Mark Bonnar, Lewis Howden, Erin Armstrong, Julie Graham and Anne Kidd are also credited as main cast members.
The story largely takes place in the Scottish archipelago of the same name, although much of the series' filming takes place on the Scottish mainland and only part of the filming takes place in Shetland. So far, five series have been broadcast.
Douglas Henshall won the 2016 BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor for his role as Jimmy Perez and the series was awarded Best Television Drama.

One of our favorites on Britbox. Claire Goose plays Jane Kennedy in this crime series. Jane, a former high-profile attorney, returns to her hometown to work as a coroner. Her new position requires her to investigate mysterious deaths and work with local Detective Sergeant Davey Higgins, who is also her ex-boyfriend.
Coroners balance the danger and intensity of their cases with the warm relationships they have with colleagues, family, and the community. However, the lines get blurred when Jane's daughter Beth starts dating Matt, the best friend of a boy whose mysterious death she is investigating.
17. The Secrets of Dr. Blake
One of our favorites on Britbox. Accompanied by haunting memories of his World War II service, Dr. Lucien Blake has returned to Australia after 30 years to take over his late father's medical practice. Dealing with his own personal loss and having been transformed by his experiences during the war, the ironic and sympathetic doctor enthusiastically fulfills his other role as a police surgeon.
His unconventional and unpredictable nature upsets some, but it's clear that Dr. Blake is ahead of his time when it comes to forensic science and his own understanding of the human heart to help solve murder mysteries in the rural town of Ballarat.
16. Eggcrunch
We like this Britbox show: it's based on a novel by Scottish author Iain Banks. Stewart Gilmour returns to Stonemouth, a fictional port town north of Aberdeen, for a funeral. Five years have passed since he fled to London after a sexual elopement at a wedding.
Stonemouth is controlled by two rival gangs, the Murstons and the MacAvetts, and Gilmour was engaged to a member of the old clan before he was forced out.
15. Mord im Blackpool Express
In this feature-length mystery comedy, a crime writer takes fans on a bus tour of the locations of his books. Soon, the passengers are faced with the possibility that there is a murderer on board.
14. Bancroft
Bancroft is a four-part British television thriller that premiered in December 2017. This four-part crime drama is based on the true story of Rhys Jones, an 11-year-old boy who was murdered on his way home from football practice in 2007. The series will be filmed in Liverpool, where the crime took place in the Northwest and stars by Stephen Graham, Sinead Keenan and Brian F. O'Byrne.
